Family Ministry at SOTH
At Shepherd of the Hills, we encourage a personal relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Through teaching time, servant events, retreats, music, and fun activities, we discover more of God's love. We also realize that we are a part of God's family.
We value and respect families in the home, and the relationship between parent and child. Here at SOTH we strive to work with young people, as well as parents, in the strengthening of these vital relationships. We also assist in giving families, parents, youth and children tools to use as they grow together in Christ in the home, community, and world!
Family & Intergenerational Events
At SOTH there are opportunities for families, and those of all ages, to participate in together. We have special family worship events, a family campout, family movie outings & family servant events. We have intergenerational hikes, pot-lucks, worship, small groups, etc. We're about bringing people together to build them up in the body of Christ! ALL ARE WELCOME! Family Life Cycle
The Family Life Cycle is a way to describe the movement of people and the members of their families as they move from one stage or situation in life to another. The Family Life Cycle Series is an organized flow of courses, resources, and counseling that seeks to provide guidance and assistance to family members as they move through the various stages of their lives.
The Family Life Cycle begins as an Emerging Adult begins to explore life on their own, seeking independence and self-identity. From there we move toward marriage, then the introduction of children into a marriage. As children grow, the Family Life Cycle grows with them, providing equipping for a parent’s changing needs (both spiritual and relational). Finally the Family Life Cycle moves one beyond the child raising stage toward a time when the home is emptier and eventually into a time of preparation for eternity.
We are hard at work planning how to implement the Family Life Cycle Series of educational opportunities at SOTH. Here is a preview of the stages of the Family Life Cycle that we will be addressing in the future:
